One small crawl for Lukas, one giant crawl for Lukas-kind

So I am a little behind with this post, but about 2 or 3 weeks ago, Lukas started crawling (finally!). At first it was a little tiny baby crawl where his knees would barely move forward. Scott of course told me I was crazy to think that was a crawl but Lukas definitely seemed to understand that the legs could actually move independently of one another, so I thought it should count. In any case, when I came back from NYC, he started crawling, by anyone's definition. It's like the light went on that he could actually get from point A to point B. The cutest thing is that the first few days, he just tried to follow us around. Whenever Scott would leave a room, Lukas would try to go follow him. You could just see from the look on his face that he was like "Hey guys!!! Wait for me!"

Now the challenge is to keep him out of trouble, like going headfirst down the stairs! The other challenge is getting him dressed in the morning and into jammies at night, which is something akin to nailing jello to a wall. I have seriously become good at putting on a diaper backwards.

Last weekend, Lukas took his first airplane trip. We went to Orlando for cousin Kate's 1st birthday party, which was really nice. When we woke up Saturday morning, we didn't realize there were tornadoes in downtown Atlanta the night before. Luckily we left Saturday morning during a break in the weather. Lukas did great on the plane and charmed everyone around him. He is turning into quite a little flirt! He has yet to meet a girl he doesn't like... He also played with the safety card on the plane for a while and enjoyed touching all of the buttons and knobs on the plane.

Anyway, we got to Orlando just in time to get a quick nap and change before going to the party, and then we left the next day. So it was short and sweet, but a good test for us all to see how Lukas will handle the plane. We are planning on visiting Seattle later this year so the flight will be a bit longer!

Kate's party was really sweet and her Aunt Hilarie made a beautiful fondant cake with this cute monkey on the top and pink icing. Kate started out just sort of touching the cake, but once she tasted it, she went to town! It got all over her face, hair, clothes, etc! I'll post some pictures this weekend.

It is hard to believe Lukas will turn 1 next month- where does the time go? Take care everyone! Of course Scott & I have been sick again, so we are recovering...when will cold & flu season end???

Here is a picture of Lukas in the bye-bye buggy at school at today's Easter parade. He gets really upset when I come to visit though since he wants me to hold him so he is just about to cry in this picture. The parade was adorable though. Bye!
